ST JOHNS WORT + ROSE SOLAR Elixir 1:6 - 50ml

St John’s Wort is such a precious herb, and is done an immense disservice when we label it an ‘anti-depressant’ and leave it at that. Truly one of the most solar herbs in the western materia medica, St John’s Wort represents all the hope, enthusiasm and light bringing of the Summer Solstice. It is clarifying, in part due to it’s work on enhancing and supporting the livers detoxification processes, but also due to it’s inherent light bearing and bringing nature. If you can imagine out inner Sun as a warm, life giving, and protective force that connects us to our will and the power of our mind, then you have a little glimpse of the vital-fire that St John’s Wort stokes when we meet it as an ally. It is also anti-viral, though this benefit will be gentler in it’s elixir form than it would be as a tincture or topical treatment.

This elixir can be called upon to encourage literal clarification - think purifying murky waters until they become sparkling and clear - so we can move forward onto the path lit up before us with an enthusiastic grin, and the creative energy to see it through to its glorious conclusion. Can also be used for those of a more melancholic or Saturnian disposition, or those who find themselves in a dark place, as the literal light at the end of the tunnel.

USE & DOSAGE INSTRUCTIONS

Take 1-3 droppers full, 1-3 times daily either on its own, in a little water, or in a warm (not boiling) beverage such as chai, cacao or herbal tea. Can also be added to an altar or as a dedication to the Sun.

PLEASE READ - St John’s Wort is known to support and speed up CYP Liver enzymes, which can enhance the clearance of pharmaceutical drugs. Caution or avoidance of St John’s Wort is recommended if you are taking prescribed medications, particularly classes of meds with narrow therapeutic indexes like Warfarin and Digoxin (cardiac medications). It may also have synergistic reactions with anti-depressants of the SSRI and SNRI classes, which may or may not be desireable. Caution is recommended if taking alongside any prescribed medications, particularly anti-depressants, and I recommend having the guidance of a Herbalist or Naturopath rather than self-prescribing this herb. Rose is typically a safe plant to work with, with no known interactions.
