Sometimes referred to as ‘stinking hoarhound’, this old name-as-insult was my first clue as to the medicine this powerful plant carries. As my teacher Jane Hardwicke Collings says, you can discover where great power lies by the clues of what patriarchy demonises - turns out this is as true for our treatment of our fellow man as it is for our judgement towards plants! Patriarchy attempts to demonise, control and/or make invisible potent aspects of human life such as menstruation, birth, aging, death, rest, disability, neurodivergence, and frankly anything that may act as a barrier to being a productive little worker bee in the hive of capitalism. There is healing work to be done for all folks who have grown up with capitalist/coloniser/patriarchal consciousness, and we can begin by turning our attention to the parts within we’d really rather not acknowledge or fully see. Interestingly, Black Hoar is used primarily for intense nausea and nervous system disorders, and is especially useful if stress or anxiety is at the nausea’s roots. It is literally used to support our digestive system when it is unable to stomach something, with nausea being the message that something will not be tolerated being assimilated.

Black Hoarhound, the Hag, wayshows what it is to be all that we are, warts and all, and helps us to reclaim these essential parts of use hidden in shadow, banished or exiled, for the betterment of ourselves and our lives, and for all. When we invite the exiled parts considered dangerous by the status quo to the table, we may just find the medicine needed to show up to a world in desperate need of the wisdom of the wise woman, the hags, the liliths that carry their sacred rage, the dark mother that shrieks like a night owl NO MORE. USE & DOSAGE INSTRUCTIONS

Internal Application: Flower Essences can be taken internally in drop doses, and is recommended at seven drops twice daily for lasting effects and facilitating deeper change, while seven drops as needed offers a more temporary or transient shift towards the gifts and expressions of the essence.

External Application: Used topically you can add a few drops to acupressure or pulse points such as the wrists, neck, or third eye. It can also be added to creams, baths, altars, or used for ritual practice.

BIRTH & CREATION INFO

Made on 18/11/23, On Saturns day, during the hours of the Sun and Mercury. This creation holds some big star magic - a Mars cazimi in Scorpio (sacred rage), with the AC moving through both Saturn ruled signs of Capricorn and Aquarius, and conjoining a Moon Pluto conjunction in late Capricorn. The Moon was also moving through the nodal bendings, and Saturn had just entered Pisces, being in the 0˚ degree and opposing Black Moon Lilith in Virgo. Truly a cycle breaking sky moment, in which the shadow is fully present. It’s Saturnian nature bespeaks the presence of the Hag herself, having just entered the mystical and humanitarian sign of Pisces, where we may all benefit greatly from soaking in the seas of unconditional love and reverence for all.
